I came across the Bad Books, Good Times blog a couple months ago and I have been hooked ever since. It's hilarious! I cannot wait to start reading this book. I recommend it to anyone whether they have read Fifty Shades or not. It will make you laugh so hard you cry! Read it!

So many priceless gems exposing the vapid stupidity and disturbing sexism of modern mainstream erotica. Some chapter commentaries are definitely stronger than others, but considering the authors were posting 5/7 days, that's really impressive O_o If I had to read this crap and write insightful AND amusing commentary on it basically EVERY DAY except the weekend, I would quickly and loudly go totally batsh*t insane! Thank you for sharing Ariel & Matthew, BBGT is my new fave bookmarked site :D

Good Times? Absolutely!

While deliberating whether or not to buy 50 Shades of Grey - yes, I AM ashamed - just so I could participate in the ongoing discussion, I came across the "Bad Books, Good Times"-Blog and I've been hooked ever since. Not only was it one of the funniest things I had read in a long time, I also felt fully entitled to voicing my opinion on E. L. James's "literary jewel" without ever having to read it. So thanks for sparing me the trouble (and the money), guys!
Aside from the extremely hilarious comments, what I also really like is how they point out all of the book's flaws that so many people obviously fail to recognize in their praise for 50 Shades. Whether it is the lack of a proper plot and character development, James's inconceivably repetitive writing and awful descriptions of orgasms (how is it even possible to "detonate" around someone?) or the sheer stupidity of having a personalized libido that may or may not sometimes dress up as a Gladiatrix - it is impossible to look past any of these once you've read their blog or this book and still claim that James knows anything about writing (or BDSM... or the way a subconscious works).
Obviously, if you're a fan of the series, this book is not for you - unless, of course, you somehow want to cure yourself from liking it.
All in all, I strongly recommend reading this if you're in need of a good laugh and a fan of funny literary criticism.
