When I got started with the InQUIZitive series, I had no idea if people would be interested in a trivia quiz book in this format. Today, after multiple wonderful reviews and numerous mails from readers, I am convinced people enjoy this style of quizzing.

My journey with this series started when I found most trivia quizzing books in the market were very dry. They were mainly about memorizing facts. And in some cases, the questions were so obscure that even after reading the answer, you were left scratching your head. To me, trivia quizzing is much more than just memorizing facts. Answering an interesting question is like putting together a puzzle. As you go through the question, your brain cells start ticking. After analyzing all the details you have a moment of absolute clarity, your brain says, "Aha!" and an answer crystallizes in front of you. Even if you are not able to answer a question, when you finally see the answer, you feel "Shucks! I should have guessed that."

In the InQUIZitive series, I have tried to make sure that the readers have many "Aha!" moments. Additionally, I have taken great efforts to present the details in such a way to make them extremely memorable. Happy quizzing & may the force be with you!

About the Author
Sumit is the author of InQUIZitive, a trivia quizzing bestseller. The various volumes of the series are listed among the Top Rated Quiz books on Amazon.

Right from his childhood, Sumit has been interested in trivia quizzing. He firmly believes trivia quizzing is not about knowing dry obscure facts. According to him, it is about working out the answers using the clues provided in the question. He hopes that he can get a whole set of readers interested in Trivia Quizzing via his series InQUIZitive.

In addition to quizzing, Sumit enjoys reading (primarily Sci-Fi and Fantasy), movies (Old Hollywood classics), music (mainly rock) and photography. He lives in Bangalore with his wife and kid.

Fun challenges for everyone: Oneupsmanship as a game!

Sumit Dhar has come up with a collection of quizzes that are dazzlingly fun and informative. We may consider `trivia' as unimportant information but Dhar proves us wrong. Contained in this thoroughly entertaining book are situations and questions that hold our interest, pique our curiosity, and ultimately give us the answers in that embarrassed moment when we just can't put it al together.

But this is not meant to be a put down game - this series of trivia questions is rich in facts we all should know and helps us remember them by leaving spaces where we should be able to fill in the blanks or supply signs to which we should be able to finish the words.

Example: According to the Greek mythology, he is the God of Marriage and specifically the Marriage Hymn. He holds a burning torch in one hand and is considered the protector of female virginity. Which God?
Answer: Hymen

Or
Bomis.com is an adult website and its primary source of revenue is online advertising. It was founded by Jimmy Wales and Tim Shell in 1996. They, however, used the revenue from Bomis to launch and support a more famous initiative in 2001. What? Answer: Wikipedia

Or
On Oct 14, 1914 a 27 year old Private Henry Tandey of Warwickshire had a German soldier in his line of fire. The German soldier was wounded and did not even attempt to raise his own rifle. Tandey chose not to shoot. The German soldier saw him lower his rifle and nodded his thanks before wandering off. Who was this German soldier? Answer: Hitler!

Volume I of the best new concept in trivia games I've seen.... well, ever

As usual I didn't pay anything for this book. It showed up in my email unasked for directly from the author. It has been my experience that this is a VERY bad sign for most books but in this case I was very pleasantly surprised.

In general I'm not a fan of trivia books because they're just disconnected random facts that don't really have any cohesion and don't build on each other well. I just can't stuff all that randomness into my head and expect it to stay put. This trivia book is not one of those. Instead of "Who won the British Open in 1989?" each question is a story and the question is often along the lines of "who is this story about" or "how is this person better known". It appeals because it puts the unknown bits out first and when you find the answer the reaction is usually, "OH! THAT guy!"

The only constructive point I might make is that the book does tend to use up a lot of space repeating the question. The format of each section is 5 questions laid out like:

etc...

Also, some of the questions are a bit long so if you are trying to read these aloud to a crowd it might be hard for everyone to follow the whole question.

In summary, immensely educational and entertaining. Best concept in a trivia book I've ever seen. This author has got it completely right. Extremely impressed. Best book that ever just randomly showed up in my mailbox.

A great Trivia Quiz book for self friends and family, just dont google cheat :)

The Trivia quizzes are nice, mostly about pop-culture. Quite a few times the answers would surprise you. Have a look inside to see some samples.

The beauty of Sumit's style of trivia quizzing is that there are ample clues to the answers, and more so, the quizzes are about brands/music/references to things that you encounter everyday. A great way to pass time.

I used some of them to quiz my colleagues, and they were impressed with the questions I came up with. Hat tip to you Sumit.

Members of Congress and retired Members are eligible for private insurance coverage under the same system as other federal employees, the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP). FEHBP is the largest employer-sponsored health plan in the United States, covering more than 8 million federal employees, retirees, and their families.

Retired federal employees, including retired Members, who meet the minimum enrollment period requirements and who are eligible for an immediate annuity may continue to participate in FEHBP in retirement. Current federal employees, including Members of Congress, may also participate in the Federal Flexible Spending Account Program (FSAFEDS) to set up tax-exempt flexible spending accounts for reimbursement of health care, child care, and elder care expenses not otherwise reimbursed or covered by insurance. Current and retired federal employees, including Members of Congress, may enroll in the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP) for supplemental dental and vision insurance coverage. They may also apply for long-term care coverage under the Federal Long Term Care Insurance Program (FLTCIP).

All federal employees, including Members of Congress, pay the same payroll taxes as other workers for Medicare Part A coverage, and they are eligible to enroll in Medicare Part B, Part C, and Part D. Current Members, unlike other federal employees, are also eligible to receive health care services from the Office of the Attending Physician in the U.S. Capitol and at military hospitals.

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA; P.L. 111-148) requires health benefit exchanges to be established in every state by January 1, 2014. A provision in ACA requires that the only health plans available to Members of Congress and certain congressional staff as a benefit of their federal employment are health plans created under the ACA or offered through health insurance exchanges, as created by the ACA. The language implies that Members of Congress and certain congressional staff will no longer be eligible to enroll in FEHBP. The director of OPM concluded that this provision is not effective until the health insurance exchanges become operational. Therefore, the provision does not currently affect Members of Congress or their staff’s participation in FEHBP.

This report covers health benefits made available to Members of Congress through federal government employment, including FEHBP, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, long-term care insurance, services at the Office of the Attending Physician and military hospitals, and Medicare. It also offers a comparison of FEHBP to health benefits offered by the private sector and state and local governments and a discussion of the effect of the ACA on Members’ health benefits.

An indispensable take on a much-loved work, a gutsy effort whose reach and grasp are as one

I don't want to be a pain in the arse here, but I get serious about great--classic--books, particularly those that you need to take down off of the shelf and read every year or two. The Stand by Stephen King is one of those. Marvel has begun a beautiful and respectful adaptation of The Stand, not breaking it up, but carefully sectioning the work into five issue arcs that, as you read them, draw you deeper and deeper into a dark world, our world, where an apocalyptic battle between the good and the very, very bad is about to take place. Marvel is not doing here what it's been doing with King's world of The Dark Tower--that is a broader, much different canvas, of which The Stand is actually a part. No; you don't fool with The Stand. If reading the adaptation of The Dark Tower is like going to hear a hot jazz combo on ten straight nights riffing differently and brilliantly on the same set, reading the Marvel adaptation of The Stand is like going to hear your favorite rock band perform on a night when they're on it in every conceivable way, playing all the songs you've come to know and love them by. They're not doing a slavish note-by-note imitation --- you could have stayed at home and listened to them on your iPod if that was what you wanted to hear --- but they're playing the songs with an energy and love that one associates with hearing them the first time through.

The collection of the first of these arcs, The Stand: Captain Trips, will send the blood rattling through your veins, as the boys in Spoon would say. The team of folks doing it--Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Sensational Spider-Man, Marvel Knights, and Big Love) on scripting, Mike Perkins (Captain America)on art, and Martin (Ultimates 2, Astonishing X-Men) on inks --- has been pitch and letter perfect from the beginning to end of each issue. Reading The Stand: Captain Trips is like a Classic Illustrated adaptation of a novel loving done by EC Comics (and there are those of you who know what a compliment that is). And indeed, it is a classic. When The Stand was first published in edited form in 1978, home computers were the stuff of science fiction. Cell phones were a decade away. The internet was in its infancy, its accessibility limited to a few. Cable television was new. The beta vs. VHS VCR wars were in full swing. And people knew AIDS only as a weight loss supplement, rather than as a disease which was beginning to attract uneasy attention from a handful of doctors in a very limited number of urban centers. So when I call The Stand a classic, I mean that it is as timeless and as timely today--right now--as if it was published yesterday, notwithstanding the thirty-odd years that have passed since the original novel first saw the light of day.

The story, for the uninitiated, begins when a very nasty designer viral strain, dubbed "Captain Trips" (a sideways tribute to Jerry Garcia) escapes from a secret government facility and spreads. When Charlie Campion and his family escape from the facility--or think that they escape--they are doing nothing more than postponing the inevitable and spreading death in their wake. From the moment that their automobile with its extremely ill passengers makes a final stop at Bill Hapscomb's gas station in Texas, the fate of the nation is sealed. Since the virus is a secret, no one knows what they're dealing with. Each person who gets it--and just about everyone gets it--thinks they have "the flu," at least at first. The few who don't, and who constitute a fractional rounding error off of ninety-nine percent, include Frannie Goldsmith, a young pregnant woman who is facing the birth of her unborn child on her own; Larry Underwood, a fledgling rock star unable to come to terms with the terms of his own success; Nick Andros, a young man with a hearing and speech impairment who lists compassion as among his few remaining assets; Stuart Redman, one of the first to be exposed at Hapscomb's gas station, and who may hold the key to immunity; and Lloyd Henreid, a homicidal killer who awaits what would seem to be an inevitable justice. They are all, to varying degrees, haunted in their dreams by an enigmatic character named Randall Flagg, known by those he meets in the back alleys and the shuttered rooms of America as the Walkin' Man or the Boogeyman. Flagg welcomes Captain Trips as a harbinger of his ascent to glory, even as he haunts the dreams of the survivors.

The Stand: Captain Trips adapts wonderfully to the sequential art media, primarily because the team in charge of this wild night's ride approaches the work the way a groom should approach his bride: with love, respect, and, most importantly, unbridled passion. There is plenty of opportunity for shock and awe here, and Perkins and Martin are not above presenting some of the more gruesome scenes in all of their graphic glory. Yet, they are more than capable of wringing terror from the most ordinary scenes. Have you ever had your hair stand on end as you witness...a handshake? You will here.. Aguirre-Sacasa, for his part, brings his considerable cinematic narrative talents to the proceedings, infusing even the most benign passages with an atmosphere that hints and whispers that all is not well, even as he moves the narrative along at a perfect pace. And Perkins and Martin are in perfect synch with him, pulling back when appropriate, and getting up close and personal when necessary. And one note, here: I haven't always been the biggest fan of Perkins' work, but I am on this effort, where his lines mesh flawlessly with the storyline and with Martin's dark, somber coloring.

The Stand: Captain Trips is an indispensable take on a much-loved work, a gutsy effort whose reach and grasp are as one. I cannot wait for more. This volume (as well as future ones, presumably) includes reproductions of the alternate covers of each issue, notes from creators, and other contributions to give the reader an over-the shoulder look at how the sequential art adaptation in their hands came into being. Such lagniappe notwithstanding, however, the meat of the book is the story itself, and what a rich, irresistible feast it is. Strongly recommended.

A wonderful adaptation of Stephen King's classic story

Marvel really struck something with their various Dark Tower-based mini-series', and their collaboration with Stephen King continues with The Stand. Unlike Marvel's Dark Tower books, which detail the early days of Roland, The Stand: Captain Trips is a pretty straight-forward adaptation that manages to retain most of what made King's original tale so good in the first place. Captain Trips collects the first five issue mini-series, which details the outbreak of the killer plague and begins to flesh out pivotal characters such as Stu, Frannie, Larry, and Nick. Scripted by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Marvel Knights 4, Dead of Night: Man-Thing, and also a writer for HBO's Big Love) and featuring spectacular artwork from Mike Perkins (Captain America) and colorist Laura Martin, The Stand: Captain Trips is plenty entertaining and leaves you begging for more. It doesn't strike the same chord or sense of wonderment that Peter David and Robin Furth's Dark Tower books do, but regardless of that, The Stand: Captain Trips is a wonderful take on King's classic. All in all, if you're a Stephen King and/or comic fan, then you already know that this hardcover is a must-have.

An example for all graphic novel adaptions to follow

I've read the entire series and revisited the first volume years later to see what I thought again. It's held up very well.

Any fan of Stephen King or the book should easily get engaged with this entire series. You would think that a 1000-page novel simply couldn't be condensed into this form, but it works all the way around.

The only thing I don't like is that it uses the "Complete and Uncut" version of the book, not the 1978 original edition. So there are extra scenes that I've never liked - but that's me. Fans of the longer edition are going to appreciate their inclusion.

It's worth it. If you're on the fence about checking this series out - especially if you want to re-read the original book but don't have the energy to tackle 1000 pages - this will reward the time. And, now that the entire series is finished you won't have to wait six months for each chapter like I did!

The rumor is this same creative team might tackle "Salem's Lot," which would be good news.

The End...

God Don't Make No Mistakes by Mary Monroe picks right up where the previous novel, God Ain't Through Yet, left off. In the previous novel Pee Wee left Annette for another woman, leaving the story hanging in the air if the two would reconcile. Annette is willing to work on her marriage with Pee Wee but knows that it will take some time. Although Annette had an affair previously, it was nothing compared to the hurt that Pee Wee inflicted by actually leaving her for another woman. Just when things start looking up for the two, Lizzie,the woman Pee Wee left his wife, returns to the picture, bound and determined to get ahold of Pee Wee. When Annette hears the bombshell that Lizzie drops she wonders if her marriage will survive, or even if she will be able to move forward with her marriage.

Rhoda, Annette's best-friend, has problems of her own. Rhoda's daughter,Jade, is suffering a mental breakdown since her husband up and disappeared and served her with divorce papers. Not to mention she has a nasty urinary tract infection that she cannot seem to get rid off, but Jade does not let that stop her from going out and hanging with her friends. When Jade goes too far and pushes her mother to the brink, Rhoda kicks her out the house. Shortly thereafter it leads to a downward spiral of events that has Rhoda plotting on setting her daughter up to force her to see the error of her ways. The question is... will it backfire in the end?

God Don't Make No Mistakes by Mary Monroe was a good read. Although I enjoy Mary Monroe's writing style, I have to admit I am glad that she decided to end this series. I have been along for the entire ride of the "God" series, and I have grown to love each of these characters but enough is enough. One of my favorite novels by Ms. Monroe is The Upper Room, I would love to read more books such as this. I digress though, God Don't Make No Mistakes was a novel that had a lot going on within the pages. A lesson to truly get from this novel is when your child starts showing signs that are not abnormal for them; if they are adamant that they do not like someone, or they try to attempt to talk to you but refuse to tell you exactly what it is that is bothering them, DO NOT ignore them, because chances are there is a valid reason for this or their behavior. Take the time to listen to them and ask fact-finding questions. No matter how old your child/children are, please take the time out to listen and keep an open line of communication with your child.

The overall story was well written and kept me engrossed. Every page was drama filled. My main complaint, without trying to sound contradicting is that although I wanted the series to end, it just abruptly ended. From Annette's daughter being 12 years-old to her being 26 years-old. Aside from some minor editing issues in the uncorrected proof I read, this was a good read.

I have read all of the God books and I am speechless, I have been a fan of Annette and Rhoda since the first novel and I will remain a fan of Ms Monroe as long as she continues to write.

The end of the road

God Don't Make Mistakes is the final installment in the "God don't" series by Mary Monroe. The series follows the lives and adventures of two childhood friends: Annette and Rhoda. These ladies have survived it all from molestation to breast cancer, from prostitution to the death of a child. They make it through these challenges because of their unshakeable friendship. This bond is again tested as the ladies find themselves at odds about the best interest of their daughters.

Annette's daughter Charlotte, once again finds herself involved with the wrong crowd. When she tries to tell her mother about what is going on, Charlotte mistakes her attitude for moodiness. Will Charlotte be able to get through to her mother before things take a dangerous turn? Then there's Jade, Rhoda's rebellious daughter. Jade does everything in her power to bring her mother pain and sorrow. Through it all, Rhoda still loves her. So, she hatches a plan to get her daughter on the right path once and for all. In addition to our two stars, Monroe brings back the rest of the quirky family members. These characters provide just enough comic relief to keep the storyline moving.

I have read every novel in the "God don't" series and I must say that this novel is my least favorite. This is probably because I have grown tired of the group and am no longer interested in their life stories like I did in the past. However, I still found the story to be entertaining with quite a few LOL moments. I will truly miss these characters, especially Scary-Mary. I like the fact that Monroe gives true closure to the story and its characters. The reader definitely will not be wondering about what happens to the main characters later in life. For an author to truly end a series, this closure is necessary. So, while I bid farewell to Annette, Rhoda and the gang, I look forward to Monroe writing more books with characters that I will grow to love and be entertained with for many years (and series) to come.

Stunned, Chase’s hands settled uncertainly at her waist as he met her smiling gaze. “Dimples, are you flirting with me?” he countered.

“Maybe I am,” she teased, her voice dropping to a throaty whisper.

Ah, hell. His hands tightened slightly on her hips as his pulse kicked into warp speed. His gaze dropped to her mouth—that luscious mouth—as she leaned in and softly brushed her lips against his: once, then again, with just a bit more pressure.

Chase’s eyes drifted shut as a low moan escaped him.

She pulled back a few inches and whispered, “You okay?” the humor in her voice unmistakable.

“Hannah…y-you don’t understand…”

“What don’t I understand?” Her warm breath feathered across his cheek.

Christ, fool, just say it! The only woman you’ve ever felt anything for is wrapped around you like a pretzel, yours for the taking, and all you can do is stutter like an idiot?

“I want you,” he finally admitted. Then quickly added, “But I don’t know if this is such a good idea.”

She pulled back and stared at him in confusion. “Why not? I want you. You just admitted you want me, too. We’re both adults. What exactly is the problem?”

“Christ, Dimples, I’ve know you since you were a baby!”

“And I’ve known you since you were a bed wetter!” she countered, laughter in her tone. “What does that have to do with anything? I mean, unless you still do, in which case I’ll need to put a mattress cover on my bed.”

Chase gave the beautiful witch a swat on the ass.

She yelped playfully and wiggled in his lap.

“I never wet the bed,” he insisted, though his face did grow warm over the lie.

“Please. Drew and Charlie teased you about it for years. The only reason they stopped is you kicked both their asses and threatened to feed them each a worm if they ever mentioned it again.”

“Damn, you have a good memory.”

“Yep. And I have a few other good qualities as well.” She leaned in next to his ear and whispered, “Which I'd be happy to show you--if you'd loosen up a bit."

Another wonderful visit to Redemption

What a great trip back to the town of Redemption for Hannah and Chase's story. Loved the dialogue and banter in many of the scenes, not just between the hero & heroine, but with many other familiar characters. Perfect blend of suspense and emotion for this couple with a few surprising twists and turns along the way. Can't go wrong with this addition to the Redemption series.

To be honest I have been waiting for awhile to see if the series would continue and very glad that it has.

We all had a childhood crush on a siblings friend and Hannah is no exception. She has liked Chase for years but what she was not aware was that Chase felt the same way. Hannah was put into a situation where when Sheriff Chase came to her rescue he had to stay with her for a few days until her brother and father came back to town. During their time together Hannah used the cooking skills she had developed over time to make sure that when the meal she prepared was done, the dessert was not something that could be served at the table.

It did not just end there it continued on to make sure a mystery from previous Redemption books was solved. This is a book that you definitely need to add to your collection.

Worth the Wait

Redemption is a small town I wouldn't mind living in. Each new story in this series helps a reader become more familiar with its citizens, their flaws, their dreams, their hopes, their relationships and love stories. The love story Rogers weaves for Hannah and Chase is as delicious as the food Hannah creates for the picnics she and Chase attend. Of course, not everything can go well, and Rogers also provides strong tension with her two nasty citizens out to harm Hannah and others in their meanness.

Reading this novella satisfies a yearning for summer especially if you read it on a frigid winter weekend.
Buy it, you'll enjoy it.
