About the Author
Robert has been writing poetry since the eleventh grade. His writing started as impulsive rambling, but soon became a passion. A few years later, he attended SUNY Potsdam where he received a B.A. in Creative Writing.
His main focus is poetry, but he's also known for dabbling in short fiction, and at times erotica. Robert has also created the blog A Life Among The Pages, where he posts about his writing, love of books, and reviews books.
When he's not reading or writing, Robert enjoys spending time with his dog, Deuc. Deuc ran out of the woods in August 2011 and they have been inseparable ever since.

A Most Enchanting Collection

Robert Zimmermann strikes a beautiful and emotional chord with his new collection. I have my favorites: Innocence Lost, From the Earth We..., The Last Caress of Summer, but I found something natural and profound in all of them. Winter's Homecoming welcomes in a season of cold and contemplation where I feel the author's optimism tinged with resignation. Emotions are thought provoking and complex - the hallmark of any great chapbook. Do yourself a favor and get a copy.

Snippets of Life

SHORT VERSION
Winter's Homecoming is a short collection of poems by Robert Zimmermann to tide us over from his previous collection, From Where I Stand, while he writes more poetry. It's a fast read, but you'll more than likely want to reread at least one of these poems once you finish.
THE DETAILS
You can read through these poems in about ten or fifteen minutes--it's a really short read. But what I liked best about this collection was that I wanted to go back and reread a couple of them. Namely, Cutting a New Course and The Boarder.
The theme of this collection seems to be "snippets of life." Each poem is a snapshot of a moment in time, complete with vivid imagery or carefully chosen repetition to entice us.
Poetry fans will no doubt enjoy this collection, and I think it's a pretty good teaser collection for those who haven't yet read Zimmermann's From Where I Stand. I recommend both. Enjoy.

I came back for more

I picked this one up as I wanted to take a moment to think about it, to think about why im reading poetry and keep coming back to it. usually I don't read much poetry at all. but I've found myself coming back to the one poet and quite liking what I've read.
This short collection more than provides the answer for me. its the simplicity, and the elegance of it. the poet is up to nothing too fancy so it is quite clear what he wants to say, yet it is done so elegantly. there is a poem called Winter's Homecoming inside and that poem clearly illustrates the ease with which he makes his point. as we see the coming of winter, the imagery and the description of it are as clear as can be. yet it is that very last verse (can I call it that?) that really drives home the point.
it is moody. it is reflective and often very emotive, yet it is very compelling stuff
