A treasure for all who are lucky to find this book

Mrs. Bale has created a great book for two main reasons. First, creating a Christian book set in a time period that is not too often written about in the Christian book world must have been difficult. And the second, and the best reason why this book is an absolute treasure to read, was that Mrs. Bale created her characters to show the manifestation of Christ and His teachings and love through their actions. This is not a wishy-washy Christian romance book and for that reason I definitely give Mrs. Bale a 5 star.

This author's writing style was hard for me to get into

To say this book is mediocre would be unfair, but still I found myself sighing at times over the way it was written and some of the word usage. I have read both the Heart's Warrior and the Silken Cord and to be honest, had I not just come off of two of Tamara Leigh's books, this author's writing style probably would not have bothered me so much. But there it is: and it seems more so in the Silken Cord than the Heart's Warrior. There are times in the book where the word usage seems more from the modern day instead of the medieval days. For instance, quite a few times the phrase is used," Are you OK?" Whereas, in most of the medieval books I've read they use the phrase,"Are you well?".
And "Shut Up" is used several times whereas "Cease" is used in other books. Now this is a very clean read, and I definitely applaud the author for that. It's hard to find clean books for this time period. It's definitely not a waste of time or money to get and read this book, but I would recommend you use this book as a filler for when you are waiting for the next book in a series to come out, or your favorite author to publish a new book. And I will also say that even though these books are in a series they are totally stand alone novels and you don't need to worry about reading them in any particular order.

The Silken Cord

As the book summary indicates, this story is an inspiration medieval romance. A former lord, Wulfgar has been sold into slavery by his king for commiting treason. But Wulfgar knows he's innocent and is determined to take revenge on the people who got him convicted. Ariana, a princes of Wales, has her own problems. She just wants to regain her young brother who has been kidnapped. She needs Wulfgar's help to accomplish this. The two team up with their men, but by the end of the story, Wulfgar has discovered that his own wants are no longer more important than his love for Ariana. This book is a touching example of self-sacrifice and learning to depond on God to right all wrongs. It is a very uplifting story with lots of suspense. You wonder how the author is going to be able to resolve this story, but she pulled it of with gratifying results. A real page turner, I could hardly put it down Very well done!
