Straightforward and Useful Manual

This was a surprisingly useful little manual. It is concise and to the point. It goes through each cause of bloating, one-by-one, and offers practical solutions for each one. It surprised me with some of the possible causes, such as swallowing air by chewing gum our dining through a straw (I chew a lot of gum). It also gave a few gems as suggested solutions depending on the cause of your bloating. It is more of a booklet than a book, which was perfect for me. It is offers a couple of paragraphs explaining the particular cause of bloating, then offers a few solutions in list form. If you are looking for anecdotes, examples, and metaphors, then this book isn't for you. I wasn't, so it was perfect for me.

This is a nice, concise overview of all the different issues that could contribute to bloating. Covers both the simple and serious causes so that you can compare your symptoms. Gives good general advice on things to try and things to avoid. A very good book about something no one wants to have!

The brew that makes the difference

I don't know how Karla Williams managed to distill decades of wisdom into fewer than 250 pages in her book (well, I really do know: she's at the top of our profession as leader, teacher and holder of the ACFRE credential).

Karla takes four key words and plays off of them: Essence, Enigma, Energy and Effect. But the one word that is key is Energy, which she applies to fundraising leadership and practice. Executive leaders need to understand that there are positive attitudes and negative attitudes that come into play. I have seen this in my own work where a top executive admin ungraciously spurned fundraisers trying to see the CEO.

Don't be fooled by chapters titled Philanthropy Concepts, Development Concepts, Relationship Concepts and Solicitation Concepts. After a brief introduction to the topic, Karla delves deeply into the subject, as befits the knowledge level required of a CEO.

This is mountain moxie brought down to the city where every nonprofit executive can imbibe of its goodness. Drink up!

Remarkable Wisdom

As I was transitioning from a 20 year career in church mission and programming into a new one of fundraising, my first teacher was Karla Williams. So many of the principles that were in Fundraising 101 are evident in Leading the Fundraising Charge. Years after that course there is so much more in this book which reflects Karla's life commitment to the importance of learning from every situation in the field of development. If I had one book that I wanted to give to CEO's, Board Chairs and Development Committee's this would be it. Actually, there is so much in each chapter, I would select portions so they could be fully savored and digested. This is one book of remarkable wisdom and knowledge.

OMG I don't even know where to begin with this one! I have loved every installment of this series but this one is in a class of its own! The Arrangement 11 took us on an emotional roller coaster and left us holding on to the edge of our seats, and #12 takes us on the rest of that thrilling ride! Holy smokes! Hold on to your seats!

I absolutely LOVE Sean in this book! We finally get a glimpse of the REAL man beneath that hard exterior! He loves Avery and will do anything to protect her!

OMG and the sex scenes at the end are AMAZINGGGGGGGG!

OH....and did I mention that we get a taste of ALL of H.M. Ward's main characters! Yup, you read it right! We get to see Peter, Sidney, Jonathan, Bryan, and Trystan! Such an added bonus!

Like I said......BEST ONE YET!!!!!!

Once you start to read this book, you won't want to stop till you get till the end of #5....left on a cliff hanger and I don't do well with that! I ordered #2 right away and grabbed a glass of wine and make it a day event.

ARC REVIEW - BEST VOLUME YET!!! Doesn't disappoint at all!!

Another winner for H.M. Ward! Since this series is fan driven, meaning that fans' opinions help shape the story line, she has heard our voices and hit it out of the ball park! The rollercoaster ride that is Sean and Avery's relationship had left us with the most wonderful feeling towards the end of AR11. But true to Ward's writing, she left us with a huge cliffhanger, which brings us to AR12.

This volume doesn't disappoint at all! It will make you go thru emotions that the other volumes may have not done so, but all are worthwhile. One can notice that Sean and Avery's relationship is growing with each passing day and he opens up more to her. The book is more explicit than any of the others and will leave you breathless. LOVED every minute of it and can't wait for AR13!!

Also loved that she brought characters from her other books to shape the storyline and give us more insight to Sean's way of being and how they feel about him. It felt like there is something to the interactions/conversations between all of the characters that gives us an insight as to how the other books/series will take shape. Hhmmm, I wonder if she's giving us some clues to her other upcoming books? All in all, A WINNER!!

A refreshing contrast to progressivism

It's disturbing how much of Ayn Rand's fictional tale matches America today. The average American breaks 3 felonies a day, and anyone who operates their own business knows that they're probably breaking dozens of laws somewhere on the books. This gives the government the power to shut down anyone they please.

As a Christian, I don't agree with Rand's belief that religion is a large part of the problem. In fact, I think it's telling that in communist regimes, they work so hard to eliminate religious people (especially Christians). Regardless, I do find Rand's "Objectivism" to be a nice contrast to what is currently being taught in America's colleges.

This is the second time I read this book and I still noticed new things since the last time I read it. It still amazes me that, although it was written decades ago, so much of it sounds like the economic climate we are living in today! Innovation and productivity are not valued and the government plans for entitlements rewarding the "takers" are alive and well today as they were in Atlas Shrugged. It is a bit unsettling, as Ms. Rand shows us a world crumbling under the circumstances created by the government controls and regulations. We can only hope that life does not mimic art in the case of this book.
I would recommend that anyone seriously willing to consider our economic problems of today should read this book and consider the things that would need to be changed to avoid the same ending.

99 but there is no useful information in it

I was reading this book to get some help for my aging father who is not sleeping due to an enlarged prostrate. The book took me no more than 4 minutes to complete. In those few minutes about 3 % of the book actually mentioned anything about the problem. The last 17 % of the book was random jib jab about baby boomers.....complete with a 3 page definition. There was a 7 day diet that contained about a 700 calorie a day menu...egg whites for breakfast and 2 big salads a day along with a handful of nuts. Granted this book was only $1.99 but there is no useful information in it. By the end I was almost laughing at the ridiculousness of the content. It is almost worth buying just to see that I am not making this up.

Simple story of Jesus

I love the animals mixed into the story of Jesus' birth. This is at the right level for small children. The pictures are colorful and the wording has an interesting flow. My 5 month old son enjoys listening to the book as I read it. I'm sure he will continue to love this book as he gets older too.
